OB-GYN MONTH 2021
“Women and Children’s Rights and Roles in the Community”
By Mario A. Manaor Jr., M.D.
In celebration of women advocacy, the Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB-GYN) Month is annually celebrated in March at Batangas Medical Center (BatMC) as well as in other regions of the country.
This year’s event is dedicated to women and children who are fighting for their rights and roles in the community. Amidst Covid-19 pandemic, the Women and Children Protection Unit (WCPU) has not experienced a decline but doubled its reported number of cases. With this distressful event, the Department of OB-GYN chose to focus on the theme: Anti-Violence Against Women and Children.
On March 1, the department launched its month-long activities through an audiovisual presentation (AVP) aired at Batangas Medical Center HRMO Facebook group. A short message from Dr. Ramoncito C. Magnaye, Medical Center Chief II and an opening speech from Dr. Rena Cristina Koa-Malaya, Department Chair, formally opened the OB-GYN Month. During this program, the BatMC OB Department also announced the winner of their Logo Making Contest for the Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Section which was participated by hospital employees. The entry of Dr. Jonathan Sabadao, Medical Officer IV from the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, won as the best logo which will be used by the said department.
